Ducks and Geese
There were many interesting birds in Christchurch meadow. We saw a heron (or related bird) one evening on a fencepost, but mostly we saw lots of ducks along the Cherwell and two kinds of Geese by the Thames and also some other kind of waterbird with a black body and a pointy red beak. One of these, thrillingly, had some little chicks. Some of the ducks and geese were juveniles, but none were fluffy little babies. The ducks would follow the punters hoping for food, and also would check out anyone that was picnicking. We brought along some leftover toast one morning and Ben had a great deal of fun feeding it to some ducks. The geese were a little more overwhelming, and made the grass neat the Thames nothing you'd like to sit on. They were fun to watch, though.
