Christchurch Meadow

The place we spent the most time in in Oxford, aside from our room, was the paths and bits of lawn around Christchurch meadow, which is a meadow, with cows and hay, between Christchurch and some of the other old colleges and the Isis (Thames) river and the Cherwell, the smaller river that meets the Thames in Oxford. We walked the circuit both directions several times, had many picnics there, considered the pebbles on the paths, and ran around and played ball and otherwise enjoyed ourselves. Along the Cherwell, we saw lots of people who had rented punts as well as other boats. The people in punts were fun to watch, partly because they had some difficulty piloting them (you move them along with a pole, like a raft or a gondola). There was a framed photo of punts above our bed in the B&B which Ben was particularly fond of, so his mama tried to take an equivalent photo for him.
