telescope mount

Telescope mounts have more uses than just holding telescopes. They also can be fun to ride.

Making things

Ben loves making things. He does painting projects, like painting a train he built with his daddoo, and art projects of various sorts. He also likes cooking, and had great fun making lasagna with his mama.

Long street

Ben likes making a really long street with his cars. He has lots of cars, so the street stretches over half the length of our apartment.

Radio telescope

Ben's daddoo was very excited that there was a very very large radio telescope near the camp. We went to visit it on the way out. It moved while we were there (it is controlled remotely), which was very impressive.

snowshoes

Ben's mama and daddoo rented snowshoes for the trip, and bought Ben his very own snowshoes (mama also rented skis and went skiing while the other two napped one day). Ben did a great job snowshoeing. He probably snowshoed the better part of half a mile before deciding to ride in the sled for the rest of the outing. He picked up some big sticks, which were useful both to check snow depth and to use like poles, imitating the cross-country skiers who passed us.

Ben liked climbing the big piles of snow. Pulling Daddoo to breakfast in the sled was a little more difficult (mostly Ben got pulled instead).

Snowy landscape

It was very snowy that weekend, but warm enough to be very comfortable running around outside. The woods were very pretty, and it was fun to find tracks in the snow.

Snow in New Hampshire

In February, we went up to New Hampshire, to BU's Sargent Camp (unfortunately due to be shuttered because of the financial crisis) for an American Studies weekend. Ben was quite thrilled by the cabin where we stayed, particularly by the bunk bed. He needed help up the first two times, and help down the first three, but then he clambered up and down all by himself to his great delight.

Working Guy

Ben likes using his tools to be a "working guy." He has a tool belt and a real tool box and everything. (He is also a little obsessed with the color orange lately.)

On the plane

Ben is getting to be a real expert at airplane travel. It was fun traveling with his friend, after having to argue with the airlines to give us our seats, rather than seating Ben all by himself in an aisle with strangers.

More pictures of Cancun

Liam's parents gave us a CD of Ben and Liam's Excellent Adventure. Here are some pictures from them of our Mexico adventure. As you can see, the boys liked the easy life.
