snowshoes
Ben's mama and daddoo rented snowshoes for the trip, and bought Ben his very own snowshoes (mama also rented skis and went skiing while the other two napped one day). Ben did a great job snowshoeing. He probably snowshoed the better part of half a mile before deciding to ride in the sled for the rest of the outing. He picked up some big sticks, which were useful both to check snow depth and to use like poles, imitating the cross-country skiers who passed us.
Snow in New Hampshire
In February, we went up to New Hampshire, to BU's Sargent Camp (unfortunately due to be shuttered because of the financial crisis) for an American Studies weekend. Ben was quite thrilled by the cabin where we stayed, particularly by the bunk bed. He needed help up the first two times, and help down the first three, but then he clambered up and down all by himself to his great delight.
